Position

We are hiring a full-time Medical Courier - Specimen Transport & Patient Support (Day Shift) to support laboratory specimen transport throughout the Las Vegas area.

This is a local route position. No overnight travel required. Company vehicle provided.

This role includes direct interaction with healthcare staff and patients during specimen pickups and urine self-collection support. The role serves as a frontline representative of the laboratory and must maintain professionalism, punctuality, and a respectful, service-oriented approach at all times.

Responsibilities:
  • Pick up and deliver laboratory specimens from nursing homes, clinics, and other healthcare facilities while ensuring specimen integrity and timely transport
  • Maintain strict adherence to established specimen transport timelines and route schedules
  • Provide clear urine self-collection instructions to patients and label specimens after completion (patients perform their own collection)
  • Verify specimen labeling accuracy and ensure required documentation is complete prior to transport
  • Maintain accurate chain-of-custody documentation and digital specimen tracking logs
  • Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory protocols for handling biohazardous and temperature-sensitive materials
  • Properly store and secure specimens during transport to prevent contamination or degradation
  • Communicate proactively with dispatch and clinic staff regarding delays, route changes, or operational concerns
  • Troubleshoot minor logistical issues in the field and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
  • Maintain a clean, organized vehicle and transport equipment
  • Support occasional route coverage in nearby service areas as needed
  • Represent Rocky Mountain Laboratories professionally at all client sites
  • Strictly protect patient privacy and confidential health information at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Clean driving record with no major traffic violations
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and active personal auto insurance as required for this role
  • At least 1 year of professional driving experience (medical courier, route driver, or delivery driver)
  • At least 1 year of patient-facing healthcare experience (e.g., medical assistant, home health aide, phlebotomist, EMT)
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including:
    • Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds throughout the shift
    • Standing for extended periods of time
    • Walking frequently during pickups and deliveries
    • Climbing stairs while carrying equipment or specimen containers
    • Driving for extended periods throughout the day
    • Frequently entering and exiting a vehicle
  • Comfortable using GPS and smartphone apps for routing and communication
  • Time zone awareness, including the impact of daylight saving time, due to multi-state operations

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience transporting laboratory specimens
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, biohazard handling, or specimen tracking systems
  • Strong customer service experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of Las Vegas roadways, including Mesquite and Pahrump
Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

  • $18.00-$20.00/hour
