The Event Captain is a full-time, on-site role based in Las Vegas, NV, responsible for leading event operations from setup through breakdown. Day-to-day, the Event Captain oversees event staff, coordinates with culinary and logistics teams, and ensures all service standards and timelines are met. This role includes supervising room setup, table and buffet arrangement, and AV or décor details, while verifying that food presentation, cleanliness, and safety standards are maintained.
The Event Captain serves as the primary on-site contact for clients, addresses questions or issues promptly, and helps deliver a smooth, memorable guest experience. The position also involves training and mentoring service staff, managing event paperwork, and providing feedback to improve future events.
- Event operations and leadership skills, including experience supervising service staff, managing event timelines, and coordinating setup and breakdown.
- Customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, guests, and team members and resolve issues on-site.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, multitasking under pressure, and adapting quickly to changing event needs.
- Knowledge of catering and hospitality best practices, such as food service standards, banquet setup, and basic safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to stand, walk, and lift moderate weights for extended periods.
- Prior experience in event management, catering, or hospitality supervision is strongly preferred.
- Reliable transportation to on-site event locations in and around Las Vegas, NV.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; further education or certifications in hospitality or event management are a plus.
