The Role:Mission Control Power/ Environmental Technician I
This role monitors and supports power and environmental systems within Switch’s mission-critical data centers. You respond to alerts, investigate events, and coordinate with internal teams to restore and maintain system stability. The role is execution-focused, follows established procedures, and operates within a 24/7/365 environment.
What You’ll DoMonitor electrical and mechanical infrastructure using approved monitoring platforms.
Act as a primary point of contact for power and environmental event investigations.
Interpret alerts, assess impact, and follow documented procedures to support remediation.
Create, update, and manage alarm-driven incident tickets.
Coordinate with Data Center Operations, Engineering, and other internal teams during incidents.
Document incidents clearly, including actions taken, timelines, and outcomes.
Follow escalation and notification procedures using sound judgment.
Provide timely and accurate updates to stakeholders as required.
Provide feedback to improve Mission Control tools, workflows, and processes.
What We’re Looking ForAbility to follow procedures accurately in high-pressure situations.
Clear and professional communication with technical and non-technical partners.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple alerts and priorities simultaneously.
Reliable attendance and willingness to work scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
What You’ll Bring2 or more years of experience in IT, facilities operations, or a mission-critical environment, or equivalent education and training.
Functional understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in data centers or other critical facilities.
Familiarity with systems such as generators, UPS, switch gear, ATS or STS units, PDUs, air handling units, cooling systems, and fire suppression systems.
Experience using ticketing systems and monitoring platforms.
Familiarity with building management systems such as Schneider EBO or similar platforms preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
OSHA 10 certification required within 6 months of hire.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
