The Role:Maintenance Contracts Manager
As Maintenance Contracts Manager within Reliability Engineering, you will provide strategic oversight of maintenance service agreements supporting critical data center infrastructure. This role exists to standardize contracts, strengthen vendor accountability, control cost, and protect uptime across electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems. You will partner with Facilities Operations, Supply Chain, Legal, and approved service partners to ensure maintenance agreements align with Switch standards, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations.
What You’ll Do- Own enterprise-wide maintenance contracts and service agreements across data center sites.
- Develop and negotiate preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance agreements.
- Establish standardized scopes of work, SLAs, KPIs, and governance models.
- Partner with Facilities Operations to ensure contracts support uptime and maintenance execution needs.
- Collaborate with Legal, Supply Chain, and Finance to align contract terms and risk allocation with company standards.
- Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations, safety requirements, and reliability metrics.
- Support audits and regulatory reviews by providing documentation and performance reporting.
- Drive standardization and scalability of maintenance contracts across regions.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities and reduce contractual risk through data analysis.
- Align contracts with reliability-centered maintenance strategies, OEM requirements, and asset lifecycle objectives.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for maintenance contract strategy within Reliability Engineering.
- You set standards and enforce accountability.
- You negotiate with clarity and protect operational reliability.
- You anticipate risk before it impacts uptime or cost.
- You communicate effectively with technical and commercial stakeholders.
- You maintain high accuracy in documentation and compliance tracking.
- You operate with integrity in high-availability environments.
Required:
- 7+ years of experience in maintenance contracts management, vendor management, supply chain, or reliability-focused facilities environments.
- Experience developing and negotiating maintenance service agreements at scale.
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, UPS, generator, and mission-critical infrastructure systems.
- Experience managing SLAs, KPIs, and performance-based vendor contracts.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, maintenance scopes, and contract language.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Facilities Management, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred:
- Experience in mission-critical data center environments.
- Familiarity with reliability engineering principles and asset lifecycle strategies.
- Experience supporting compliance audits and regulatory inspections.
