Note: This position will be funded by a grant which is expected to fund the position through September 30, 2026. At that time, the position will either be continued by a new grant, continued by conversion to a permanent position, or discontinued.
DefinitionIncumbents will be assigned to the Technical and Surveillance Squad (TASS) and will perform a variety of technical and analytical work involving video management systems, computer networking, and surveillance system design and implementation in a law enforcement setting. Incumbents will work in support of department projects and programs as they relate to the deployment of law enforcement technology utilized by Fusion Watch and the Southern Nevada Counter-Terrorism Center (SNCTC).

This position serves at the pleasure of the Sheriff and is not subject to the competitive requirements of the Civil Service Rules of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Incumbents are assigned to the Homeland Security Division in the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center (SNCTC) serving under the supervision of the Technical and Surveillance Squad (TASS) leadership.
Supervision Received and ExercisedReceives direction from supervisory and management staff. May exercise technical and functional supervision over clerical and technical staff.

Best Candidates Will Have- Three years of increasingly responsible professional work experience, preferably in a public agency setting, with technical experience involving IP networking infrastructure, video management systems (VMS), and enterprise surveillance system design and implementation.
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent relevant work experience and/or technical certifications.
- Strong experience with wired and wireless computer networking, including configuration, troubleshooting, and management of Layer 2 and Layer 3 IP networks supporting enterprise surveillance systems.
- Working knowledge of network architecture supporting video surveillance environments, including switches, VLANs, PoE infrastructure, routing, and bandwidth optimization for high-volume video streams.
- Experience with video surveillance system design, deployment, and integration in complex network environments.
- Milestone VMS experience.
- Milestone Certified Integration Technician (MCIT) certification.
- Milestone certifications MCIE and MCDE strongly preferred or to be acquired within one year of hire.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server and virtual server environments supporting surveillance and networking infrastructure.
- Project management experience.
- Vendor management experience.
- Experience working in a law enforcement or military environment. (Preferred)

All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing. Markings that cannot be covered by clothing will be covered using neutral-toned bandages or patches except for hands, neck, head, or face tattoos. Makeup is not permissible to cover a tattoo.
