Senior Cloud Engineer, Information Technology [R0150849]
University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a full‑time Senior Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and resilient cloud and platform services across Public, Hosted, SaaS, and PaaS environments.
Responsibilities- Perform infrastructure, engineering, and administration tasks on supported platforms and cloud services.
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and resilient platform and cloud services within a hybrid environment.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and manage Infrastructure‑as‑Code templates.
- Optimize resource usage and ensure compliance with security and governance standards.
- Perform platform and services administration, tenant management, version upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
- Monitor systems, conduct maintenance, growth planning, problem analysis, documentation, backups, and recovery.
- Support modernization and operational transparency initiatives, collaborating with faculty, business teams, and vendors.
Maintain a customer‑focused approach in all duties, ensuring professional, timely, and effective interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven (7) years of related professional experience in systems engineering.
- Experience working in a higher‑education environment.
- Ten (10) or more years of related professional experience in systems engineering.
- Industry Linux certification.
- Industry cloud certification.
- Industry project management certification.
- Industry major service certification.
- Advanced knowledge of operating system, server, and cloud architecture and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of system and application security, monitoring, and enforcement.
- Experience creating and maintaining documentation, project plans, and schedules.
- Proficiency with automation tools and Infrastructure‑as‑Code.
- Effective communication and team‑oriented collaboration skills.
- Ability to analyze issues, prioritize tasks, and deliver high‑quality results.
