General Summary
Under general direction from the IT Network & Cybersecurity Manager, the Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the design, administration, security, and ongoing optimization of the Las Vegas Clark County Library District's enterprise network infrastructure. This position provides advanced technical leadership for the District's wired and wireless networks, perimeter and internal security systems, and hybrid identity/network integration with Microsoft Azure and Entra .

Pay range: $86,277 to $115,619 per year. The position is full‑time (40 hours per week), FLSA exempt. Employees are eligible for annual merit and COLA increases per District policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design, implement, administer, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, VPN, SD‑WAN, and wireless network infrastructure across the District.
- Serve as the primary administrator for Fortinet security platforms, including Forti Gate firewalls, security policies, NAT, IPS, web filtering, SSL inspection, VPN configuration, high availability, logging, and firmware lifecycle management.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize network and firewall performance to ensure maximum uptime, resilience, and security.
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of network security controls, including segmentation, access control lists, secure remote access, intrusion prevention, and zero‑trust–aligned network practices.
- Administer and support hybrid identity and access solutions involving Microsoft Entra , including secure authentication integration, conditional access dependencies, identity‑aware networking, and cloud‑connected access control.
- Support and maintain Microsoft Azure network‑related resources, such as virtual networks, network security groups, private connectivity, and secure communication between cloud and on‑premises systems.
- Investigate and resolve complex network, firewall, and connectivity issues using packet analysis, system logs, monitoring platforms, and structured troubleshooting methodologies.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems, and support teams to strengthen the District’s overall security posture and ensure secure delivery of technology services.
- Participate in vulnerability remediation efforts related to network infrastructure, firewall exposures, access control weaknesses, and configuration hardening.
- Develop and maintain standards for secure network architecture, firewall rule management, VPN deployment, and administrative access control.
- Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, patching, configuration backups, and disaster recovery readiness for network and security infrastructure.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of network topology, firewall configurations, IP schema, VPN tunnels, cloud connectivity, and operational procedures.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for improvements to network performance, security, redundancy, and scalability.
- Provide advanced technical guidance and mentorship to IT staff and assist with escalation support for network‑related incidents.
- Participate in after‑hours maintenance windows, emergency response, and on‑call support as needed to maintain critical infrastructure operations.
