The award-winning Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is currently hiring for an IT Makerspace Support Technician with the IT Department.
General SummaryUnder direct supervision from the IT Systems Manager and general supervision from the IT Director, the IT Makerspace Support Technician provides technical and operational support for District-wide makerspace services. This position assists with a variety of tasks, including equipment setup, basic troubleshooting, and program support.
Description of hours and wagesThe pay range for this position is $30.28 to $40.57 per hour. Pay typically begins at the minimum of the pay range, and employees are eligible for annual merit and COLA increases per District policy.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), FLSA non-exempt position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assists with supporting makerspace services across the District and stays aware of relevant tools and technologies used in makerspace environments.
- Provides first-level technical support for makerspace equipment, software, and user issues.
- Assists various departments with the implementation of makerspace services following established standards and procedures.
- Assists with the procurement, inventory, setup, and deployment of program hardware and software.
- Supports staff and patrons in the basic use of makerspace hardware and software, following established guidelines.
- Assists with the preparation and distribution of training materials and documentation.
- Performs routine maintenance and updates on software, firmware, and equipment under direction.
- Troubleshoots basic equipment issues and escalates complex or recurring problems to higher-level IT staff or vendors.
- Coordinates with vendors for support and repair of equipment as directed.
- Assists with the setup and support of makerspace programs, workshops, and activities.
- Supports informal learning environments for youth and teens by helping maintain a functional and safe workspace.
- Uses and maintains makerspace software and hardware following established procedures.
- Provides status updates and reports issues to the IT Systems Manager or IT Director.
- Operates Library District vehicles as required.

REQUIRED Education
Required Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field

ExperienceRequired One (1) year of experience using and working with equipment normally found in a makerspace (3D printers, audio/video editing and recording software, Apple software and hardware, etc.).

Physical RequirementsEssential and marginal functions may require frequent light lifting (5-10 pounds) and moderate lifting (12-20 pounds); occasional heavy lifting or moving (50-100 pounds); frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and pushing; the continuous operation of hand or power tools to very exacting tolerances, calling for full coordination of sensory and manipulative ability; and standing or utilizing a keyboard for extended periods of time.
