Lead Lms (Learning Management System) Specialist

The Lead LMS (Learning Management System) Specialist serves as the company's subject matter expert responsible for the technical ownership, administration, and optimization of the LMS. This role ensures system stability, data integrity, compliance reporting, and user experience across the company. Configures, troubleshoots, and enhances LMS functionality with SCORM/xAPI-based learning assets. Establishes governance standards, manages integrations (e.g., Workday), and delivers actionable analytics to enable strategic decision-making, as the primary liaison between internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Learning, IT, Compliance, third-party vendors, etc.).
Collaborates with peers and stakeholders to support the full learning lifecycle, including eLearning and instructor-led training (ILT) campaigns, automated course assignments, dashboards, and custom reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and delivers audience campaigns for eLearning and instructor-led (ILT) programs to include automated assignments and notifications ensuring timely delivery. Manages course launches and enterprise rollouts to provide clear communication and maximize adoption. Facilitates train-the-trainer sessions on LMS functionality to include custom reports, dashboard analytics, and workflows. Collaborates with peers, business leaders, and stakeholders to align LMS initiatives with organizational priorities.
- Manages the full lifecycle of learning content within the LMS. Uploads, tests, debugs, and publishes SCORM/AICC/xAPI packages, applies Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Visual Basic coding to repair or customize modules. Creates eLearning courses, assignments, assessments, and dashboards for compliance and professional development programs. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure content is optimized, functional, and compatible following upgrades or patches.
- Builds and automates reports and dashboards to track compliance, completions, utilization, engagement, and ROI. Maintains audit-ready records and ensures all legal, regulatory, and corporate compliance standards are met. Partners with HR, Legal, and business leaders to fulfill audit requests and provide ad hoc reporting. Delivers analytics which measure ROI and the effectiveness of enterprise-wide learning programs.
- Collaborates with IT to maintain and enhance integrations between the LMS and key systems such as HRIS (e.g., Workday), performance management tools, and third-party content providers. Leverages APIs, SSO, and other connectors to improve efficiency and user experience. Manages internal and external vendor relationships to serve as the primary point of contact for escalations, patches, and roadmap planning. Conducts regression testing during system upgrades or patches to confirm courses, integrations, reports, and workflows continue to function as expected, working directly with internal IT administrators to troubleshoot and optimize deployments.
- Manages the day-to-day operation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of the LMS. Monitors system performance and partners with IT to conduct root-cause analysis of outages or slowdowns. Enforces data retention and archival policies to safeguard learning records. Ensures the LMS remains stable, efficient, and aligned with enterprise needs, while evaluating functionality and efficiency improvements to the learning platform.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Learning Technologies, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of Learning Management System (LMS) administration and/or customer service and/or administrative coordination experience; including data entry and formatting of documents and spreadsheets.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a learning and development or organizational development supporting role preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience with Workday HCM preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience with Blanchard Exchange preferred.
- Certification in learning technology or instructional technology (ATD, SHRM, or comparable) preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in SCORM/xAPI compliance, debugging, and courseware publishing.
- Experience creating and deploying eLearning courses and ILT assignments through LMS campaigns.
- Experience partnering with IT and external vendors on system integrations and upgrades.
- Experience with HRIS/LMS integrations (e.g., Workday) strongly preferred.
