Part - Time Licensed Interpreter for the Deaf - FY 2026
This is a part-time position. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to establish an applicant pool. As vacancies occur, they are filled from the pool.
Responsibilities- Requires the provider to effectively interpret or translate spoken language into manual sign language.
- Effectively interpret from American Sign Language into spoken English Language.
- Effectively communicate in written and spoken English.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in a variety of educational interpreting situations based on the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Conduct and institutional policy and procedures.
- Function as an active team member in the interpreting process when required.
- Research terminology and information used to interpret/transliterate in classroom situations and college-related activities.
- Convey material effectively, accurately, and impartially, through the use of any necessary specialized vocabulary.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Complete all documentation required for verification of services in a timely manner.
- Exhibit professional conduct and skilled contribution in the workplace.
- Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the institution at all times.
- Assume responsibility for continued professional development and maintain certificate and licensure at all times.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Registered with the state of Nevada as a Community Interpreter or a Provisional Community Interpreter
- National certification: EIPA or NAD-RID certification
- Experience interpreting in Post-Secondary Education
- College degree or coursework
- Daytime availability
- EIPA: $37.00 - $50.00
- RID, NIC and/or NAD: $48.00 - $57.00
