Job Description SummaryThe EPC Project Manager will oversee all facets of utility‑scale solar projects—from planning and budgeting to execution, scheduling, risk management, procurement and billing—while providing leadership and technical expertise to ensure project success.
Responsibilities- Plan, execute and oversee significant scopes of self‑performed work, managing large labor crews and coordinating sequencing, crew sizes, productivity goals, and labor spend.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop and implement safety plans and procedures.
- Prepare project billing and cash‑flow management, prioritizing aged receivables and reviewing status during owner meetings.
- Present and negotiate change orders with owners for timely resolution.
- Negotiate cost‑effective subcontract and material purchases and coordinate with local labor providers.
- Develop job procedures, shop drawings and material delivery strategies to ensure timely buyout.
- Keep projects on schedule and provide accurate reporting to management on cost forecasting and estimated cost at completion.
- Manage, train and supervise the project team, serving as a mentor to junior employees.
- Review contract conditions and ensure compliance with all terms.
- Document significant project events (accidents, delays, change orders) and maintain quality control through a Site‑Specific Quality Management Plan.
- Mitigate claims and conflict and conduct warranty follow‑up during the typical 2‑year warranty period.
- Maintain strong relationships with Owners, Architects and Subcontractors, building a partnership while preserving rights per the prime contract.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve logistics or supply‑chain challenges.
- Lead regular meetings with Owners and key project partners.
- Complete all job close‑out procedures and deliver projects with full or enhanced fee.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture (preferred).
- 5–8 years of field construction management experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Leadership ability to cohesively assemble diverse teams in remote environments.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Bluebeam Revu; CMiC experience a plus).
- Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting.
- Comprehensive understanding of project management control systems: scheduling, cost control, procurement and estimating.
- Deep knowledge of utility‑scale PV plant construction methods, sequencing and techniques.
- Understanding of utility and ISO interconnection sequence and durations.
- Willingness to travel extensively (minimum 50% of the time, including long‑term jobsite assignments).
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail‑oriented, motivated self‑starter.
- Accuracy of proposal schedules driven by project variables and stakeholder collaboration.
- Timely resolution of disputed claims or impacts through sound schedule hygiene.
- Development of a strong scheduling culture across the operations team.
