Position SummaryThe Accounting Supervisor – GL & AP is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the General Ledger and Accounts Payable functions. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely processing of payables, strong internal controls, and consistent adherence to accounting policies and procedures. The Supervisor provides hands‑on leadership to the AP and GL teams and acts as a key liaison between staff and management.
Reporting To:
Accounting Manager
- Supervise month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure proper application of GAAP and company accounting policies
- Investigate and resolve balance sheet and income statement variances
- Support financial reporting, audits, and management inquiries
- Maintain and improve GL processes, controls, and documentation
- Oversee AP processing, including invoices, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of invoices and payments
- Monitor AP aging and resolve discrepancies, duplicate payments, and vendor issues
- Review and approve payment runs and exception items
- Ensure compliance with approval workflows and internal controls
- Supervise, train, and mentor AP and GL staff
- Assign workloads, monitor performance, and ensure deadlines are met
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement efficiencies
- Serve as escalation point for complex accounting or AP issues
- Promote cross‑training and collaboration within the accounting team
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including GL and AP
- Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
- Experience with accounting systems and ERP platforms (HOA/property management systems a plus)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Clear communication and leadership skills
