Position Purpose
The District Manager leads the operational efficiency and strategic growth of branch locations within the division. The role aligns with corporate missions and financial objectives, oversaw staff development, inventory management, vendor relationships, and regulatory compliance to maximize profitability and deliver exceptional customer service. Key focus areas include financial performance, acquisition integration, safety culture, and continuous improvement across all branches.
Key Responsibilities- Lead district operations to achieve profitability, asset management, and ROI by implementing growth and efficiency strategies.
- Drive a safety culture through site visits, training, and compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Hazmat regulations.
- Develop and mentor team members by providing continuous training, identifying talent, and creating clear growth paths.
- Maximize district profitability by ensuring efficient branch operations, optimal sales margins, exceptional customer service, and effective inventory control.
- Provide strategic leadership for turnaround, greenfield, and newly acquired branches, making decisive actions on operational inefficiencies.
- Monitor market dynamics, sales performance, and budget goals, holding teams accountable for sales objectives and margin enhancement.
- Oversee financial operations with P&L responsibility, guiding decisions, maximizing revenue, and improving key performance indicators.
- Directly supervise Branch Managers within the geographical purview, guiding performance and development to attain divisional targets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills focused on customer service and relationship management.
- Proven sales and customer service track record meeting or exceeding objectives.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient time‑management capabilities.
- Professional interaction with diverse groups (employees, customers, vendors, contractors).
- General computer proficiency, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of inventory management, fleet maintenance, and regulatory requirements (DOT, OSHA, Hazmat).
- Experience in budgeting, P&L responsibility, and financial acumen.
- Ability to pass background check and pre‑employment drug test.
- Proficiency in analyzing complex financial and operational data to optimize performance.
- Experience with data analytics tools for decision‑making.
- Track record of leading teams through growth and change.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and empower teams with a culture of continuous improvement.
- Experience developing strategic business plans aligned with corporate objectives.
- Capability to translate strategy into objectives and action plans.
- Expertise in cultivating vendor and client partnerships and negotiating contracts.
- Collaboration across departments to drive operational efficiencies.
- Experience leading cross‑functional initiatives that enhance business performance.
- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements, including DOT, OSHA, and Hazmat.
- Track record of innovation and process improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills.
- Advanced proficiency with industry software, Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and financial software.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in distribution or related business fields (preferred).
- Minimum of 2‑5 years in Landscape, Irrigation, or Pool operations.
- No mandatory certifications; professional certifications (e.g., CSCP) considered a plus.
- Competencies:
leadership, financial analysis, safety compliance, sales growth, communication, and stakeholder management.
Physical Requirements
Required to travel approximately 50% of the time to branch locations for site visits, operational oversight, and strategic initiatives. The role demands office‑based tasks, occasional lifting up to 100 pounds, and exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and noise common to landscape, irrigation, and pool operations.
