The Control Room Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant equipment under their control in accordance with written plant procedures and under the direction of the Operations & Maintenance Manager. In the absence of specific orders and/or directives, the Operator exercises initiative, using experience and good judgment in plant operation. Comply with plant policies including those concerning safety and environmental.
The facility is a 85 MW natural gas‑fired, combined‑cycle power plant in Las Vegas, NV.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound operation of plant equipment.
- Properly operate Control Room, combustion turbines and plant auxiliary equipment during normal and emergency operation.
- Communicate information clearly, both orally and written.
- Troubleshoot plant equipment to resolve operational problems.
- Operate various computer systems to receive, analyze, comprehend, and input data.
- Monitor and record data available using various instruments, recording charts, annunciator systems and other monitoring devices onto shift logs as directed by plant operational procedures.
- Implement Plant Emergency Procedures as needed.
- Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings.
- Communicate conditions of plant system and equipment to others.
- Apply knowledge of gas power plant operations and basic power plant principles to daily decision‑making and work tasks.
- Operate computers and printers.
- Discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals from control panel.
- Work without supervision while carrying out duties.
- Take, record, and analyze readings of various electrical and mechanical meters.
- Training of junior operators in their qualifications.
- Ensure shift operations and maintenance PMs are performed.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate various switches and valves and the effect each has on the total operation.
- Meet physical requirements of the job such as perform tasks while standing, walking, climbing, and squatting.
- Performance of duties requires working rotating shifts and response to calls 24 hours/day, seven days/week.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Three or more years of experience operating Aeroderivative combustion turbines.
- Experience with Mark VlE and Ovation control systems.
- Engineering background through college or military training.
- Excellent technical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated leadership characteristic and potential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and perform effectively without close supervision.
- Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and e‑mail required.
- Ability to use discretion concerning confidential and sensitive company information.
- Be able to perform effectively in a team environment without close supervision.
- Can work well with and through others internal and external to the plant.
- Use discretion concerning confidential and sensitive company information.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This range represents the base salary and does not include other forms of compensation, such as bonuses, benefits, or equity, which may be offered in addition to the base pay.
