Conventional Machinist
A Conventional Machinist sets up and operates manual machines such as lathes, mills, and grinders to shape metal parts from blueprints. This role requires precision measurement using tools like calipers and micrometers and a deep knowledge of materials, math, and mechanics to create tools and components with exact tolerances. The focus is on hands‑on skills, problem‑solving, and quality control.
ResponsibilitiesInterpreting Plans:
Read and understand blueprints, sketches, and CAD/CAM files.Setup & Operation:
Mount tools, align work pieces, and operate manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.Machining Parts:
Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind parts to precise dimensions and specifications.Quality Control:
Measure, inspect, and test finished products for defects and accuracy using precision instruments.Material Knowledge:
Understand properties of metals and select appropriate cutting speeds and feeds.Maintenance:
Perform minor adjustments and maintenance on equipment.Collaboration:
Consult with engineers and other staff to refine processes.
Drill press operation

Mechanical aptitude

Math & Geometry:

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a machine shop environment, with work hours from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm, and potential for weekend work when needed. The position involves physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. All machining and inspection work is performed in a climate‑controlled facility to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Job Type & LocationThis is a permanent position based out of Las Vegas, NV.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $58 240.00 – $72 800.00 per year.
