Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance

Sofidel Tissue is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. This critical role is responsible for maintaining the mechanical functions of machines and equipment across the paper facility, particularly in the converting area, ensuring operational excellence through both preventive and non-preventive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:Perform regular preventive maintenance, observations, and inspections on production equipment, including lubrication and cleaning.
Maintain mechanical components of converting equipment, diagnose defects, and make necessary repairs or replacements.
Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
Respond to work orders for maintenance tasks such as changing log saw blades, baler wire, gearboxes, and rolls.
Operate machines (milling machines, lathes, saws) to modify or fabricate components as needed.
Weld or solder broken parts using appropriate tools and techniques.
Assist operations with equipment changeovers and provide operator training for minor maintenance tasks.
Participate in team activities and collaborate with other team members to ensure departmental success.
Adhere to all safety standards and policies, including lockout/tagout procedures and proper use of PPE.
Participate in safety incident investigations and contribute to identifying root causes.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalent required; 2-year technical degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience or 2 years of related education in lieu of experience.
Experience with computerized maintenance systems preferred.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Strong understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confined spaces, PPE, etc.).
Welding and machining experience preferred.
Forklift certification and familiarity with a variety of machinery (e.g., Perini & Chin Lee rewinders, UNO wrappers, Infinity wrappers) are a plus.
Work in a physically demanding environment with exposure to temperature extremes, loud noise, compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, and hydraulic fluid.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs frequently and heavier weights with team assistance or crane support.
Wear required personal protective equipment (eye/ear protection, steel-toe shoes).
Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with overtime as needed.
