The Finish and Polish Lead will be responsible for quality and cost controls in the two departments, enforcing and improving department policies and procedures. The Lead will assist the production supervisor in maintaining the schedule and achieving target ship dates, and will play a major role in continuous improvement activities. The Position is a technical expert in finishing and polishing and will mentor and train employees to achieve desired results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the company to ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed and enforced in the department.
- Obey all company, OSHA, and other state and federal agency safety regulations.
- Complete all duties assigned by the production supervisor, while using time, materials, and equipment efficiently.
- Ensure the overall quality of polish for each work order leaving the department.
- Track and monitor department KPIs and lead continuous improvement efforts.
- Drive a culture of workplace safety and ensure all employees use required PPE.
- Own and continuously improve polishing and finishing processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely creation of finished samples.
- Ensure the overall quality of finish for each work order leaving the department.
- Order all finish materials and equipment.
- Manage hazardous waste produced by the finishing process per governing body requirements.
- Work as a finisher or polisher as necessary.
- Set up, operate, and maintain relevant tools and machines.
- Read and comprehend shop drawings.
- Consult with production coordinators and supervisors to polish custom metal products per drafting department drawings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of:
- Metals
- Polish equipment and machinery
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Work as a team and communicate effectively with:
- All other plant employees
- Necessary skills: team motivation, conflict resolution, problem solving, metal finishes, and team communication.

Preferred Qualifications Education- High School Diploma or GED
- Some additional technical school training
- Must pass pre-employment physical/musculoskeletal exam
- Must pass drug screening
- Must pass an audiogram test
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis
This position operates in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
