MBSE/CAD Integration Engineer

This position plays a critical role in developing the authoritative Systems Modeling Language (SysML) system model and producing supporting 2D/3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) documentation for the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center (JITTC-N) flight simulation environment. This position ensures architectural integrity and serves as the custodian of the system's "single source of truth," translating high-level requirements into formal models and practical technical drawings for procurement, installation, and maintenance.

Maintains architectural consistency across a complex Information Technology (IT) ecosystem, integrating engineering, networking, cyber, audio/visual (A/V), and simulation components. Supports governance and change control through model-based impact assessments for the Configuration Control Board (CCB) process. Delivers accurate, stakeholder-ready technical products that enable mission-critical training and testing for U.S. Air Force and Department of Defense (DoD) operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Model Development:
Build, manage, and maintain the authoritative SysML model using Cameo Systems Modeler to represent current and future states of flight simulation and IT infrastructure.
  • Requirements Management:
Translate stakeholder objectives into formal, verifiable system and subsystem requirements within the model.
  • Architectural Modeling & Analysis:
Model static and dynamic system behaviors; provide formal impact assessments for proposed changes to support CCB governance.
  • Technical Drafting & Visualization:
Create and maintain 2D/3D technical artifacts—network diagrams, rack elevations, wiring schematics, and facility/component models—using Microsoft Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Stakeholder Documentation:
Produce tailored architectural views and documentation (e.g., requirements matrices, interface specifications, system diagrams) for program management, engineering teams, and Test & Evaluation (T&E) stakeholders.

Success in position requires consistent display of the following key abilities:
Initiative and strong work ethic to work independently, or with a team, or solve challenging problems in a development and prototyping environment. Rapid and effective problem solving: identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex problems;
Excellent communication skills to document, develop, and present technical issues so that stakeholders across the organization readily understand the content and their related actions. Schedule performance: influencing and collaborating across the organization to result in contract schedule success.

Education & Experience:

  • 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 3 years relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field
  • A Ph.D. or Juris Doctor (J.D.) in a related field
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience

Technical Knowledge (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Hands-on proficiency with SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Ability to develop and manage complex system models end-to-end.
  • Strong capability in producing and maintaining detailed 2D/3D technical drawings using Microsoft Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Experience generating architectural products and views for diverse engineering and management stakeholders.
  • Conceptual understanding of network architecture, server infrastructure, virtualization technologies, and cybersecurity boundaries.

Credentials:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have had an Active DOD Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD TS/SCI and relevant SAP/SAR Clearance.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with flight simulation systems, Live–Virtual–Constructive (LVC) training environments, or related DoD systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
  • Exposure to cybersecurity principles and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) or similar MBSE-related certification.
  • Experience scripting within Cameo to automate model validation and report generation.
  • Experience supporting integration labs, test events, or system deployments

Physical Requirements:

  • Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the Computer Systems Architect family.
