Associate Technician

The position is a full-time technician role in the optical lab, focusing on set-up, operation, and basic maintenance of equipment in surface or finish areas of lab production.

The Associate Technician is responsible for the set-up, operation, and basic maintenance of equipment within the assigned area for work tasks in surface or finish portions of lab production.

• Perform various tasks of area production machine functions.
• Interpret Rx work tickets and execute production operations on specified equipment in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform basic/routine maintenance of assigned equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions; advise supervisor of possible remedies.
• Complete tasks including lens washing, tool selection/replacement, and equipment setup for daily production.
• Ensure equipment and working areas are cleaned and organized; calibrate equipment daily/weekly as directed by area supervisor.
• Prepare necessary solutions or slurry mixtures for lens production when applicable and maintain supply levels.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the laboratory to ensure proper application of company policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and comply with attendance and safety rules and regulations.
• Assist others to meet deadlines and maintain workload balance; produce quality work on time.
• Provide training, direction, and technical guidance for less experienced employees; attend in-house or sponsored training as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position requires exposure to one or more hazardous substances/chemicals, which requires safety training.

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
• Basic high school level math skills
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
