Auto Body Painter

We are seeking a skilled Auto Body Painter to prepare, refinish, and paint vehicles to OEM specifications and company quality standards. This role includes surface prep, color matching, blending, paint application, and finish correction while maintaining strict safety and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and capable of producing high-quality finishes in a fast-paced body shop environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare vehicles for refinishing, including sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning surfaces.
  • Mix and apply paint according to OEM specifications and color formulations.
  • Perform spray-outs, color matching, and blending techniques to ensure finish accuracy.
  • Execute sanding, polishing, buffing, and other refinishing procedures to achieve a high-quality finish.
  • Inspect painted surfaces and correct imperfections to meet company standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the paint booth, equipment, and work area.
  • Coordinate with estimators and technicians to complete repairs per the repair order.
  • Apply corrosion protection materials as required.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines, use required PPE, and adhere to environmental regulations.
  • Properly dispose of hazardous waste and chemicals.
  • Assist with general shop tasks and other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional automotive painting experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • ASE or I-CAR Refinish Certification preferred.
  • Experience with modern paint systems (basecoat/clearcoat, tri-coat, single-stage).
  • Proficiency with paint-mixing systems, digital color tools, and spray gun calibration.
  • Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must provide personal tools required for the trade.
  • Bilingual a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and kneeling.
  • Regular use of hands for spray guns, sanders, buffers, and tools.
  • Strong color vision and attention to detail for finish accuracy.
  • Ability to work in paint booth and shop conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Paint booth and body shop environment with exposure to fumes, chemicals, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • PPE required at all times during refinishing processes.
  • Fast-paced, hands-on work environment focused on safety and quality standards.
