Material Handler, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations
Shipping and Receiving is responsible for the shipment of goods produced, received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid Sunshine Metals, Inc. (SMI)
Responsibilities and DutiesAs a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Shipping & Receiving position. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
- Load and unload material from delivery trucks.
- Prepare items for shipments according to customer specifications and delivery dates.
- Prepare packing lists for orders.
- Measure materials upon arrival to the warehouse in raw, uncut form and check the gauge of materials using a micrometer.
- Record measurement data gathered into computer system and generate tags to be placed on the appropriate material.
- Pull and stage material according to the bill-of-lading.
- Perform dock audits to ensure the correct material is shipped to the customer.
- Obtain proof of identity from carriers and appropriate signatures on bill-of-ladings.
- Drive the Hi-lo through the plant to move material and skids to designated areas, safely.
- Operate the over-head crane to move material from machine to packaging, safely.
- Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers and calipers.
- Maintain shipping supplies.
- Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.
- Adhere to Sunshine Metals’ safety rules, regulations and quality standards.
- Adhere to all Sunshine Metals’ handbook policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
- Ability to measure using different tools
- Ability to read and calculate numbers and data
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction
- Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
- Strong work ethic; self-motivated
Physical Requirements
Physical demands can include but not limited to:
- Standing
- Use of hands or fingers
- Kneeling/Crawling/Twisting/Balancing
- Bending/Climbing
- Speaking and Listening
Up to 50 pounds—With assistance and/or of a lifting device
Weights to be lifted:Up to 50 pounds—With assistance and/or of a lifting device
Close vision (clear vision at 36 inches or less)
One or more years of experience in warehouse shipping and receiving

Good working conditions. Frequent visual/auditory attention and involvement required to place tags on appropriate materials. Requires continuous use of computer to receive and give information.
Exposure to hazardous machinery, sharp tools, proximity to moving objects, noise, heat, humidity.
