The Ameri Corps Seniors Program Director oversees the day-to-day operations, grant management, and volunteer administration of both the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) and the Senior Companion Program (SCP). This professional role ensures federal compliance, drives volunteer recruitment, and tracks the measurable impacts seniors make in the community.

Program Distinctions

While the administrative duties for the Director are combined, the programs serve distinctly different demographics:

  • Foster Grandparent Program:
    Volunteers mentor and tutor children with exceptional or special needs.
  • Senior Companion Program:
    Volunteers provide emotional support, respite, and assistance with daily tasks to frail or homebound adults to help them remain independent.

Program Director's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Grant & Fiscal Management
  • Administer, direct, and oversee two concurrent federal Ameri Corps Seniors project grants.
  • Compiling and submitting monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports.
  • Grant application review and management.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage program budgets, ensuring all expenses align with federal and local sponsor regulations.
  • Identify, secure, and document required local matching funds and prepare all required programmatic reports.
  • Coordinate Advisory Councils for both projects as outlined by Ameri Corps Seniors guidelines.
Compliance & Evaluation
  • Ensure strict adherence to Ameri Corps Seniors Regulations governing program scope, operations, and grant deliverables.
  • Track and report performance measurements.
  • Conduct annual satisfaction surveys to assess the impact of the programs on the community.
  • Review and analyze outcome data.
  • Utilize program data to recommend programmatic changes for ongoing improvement.
Supervision of Ameri Corps Staff
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of the Ameri Corps Program Manager, Case Manager, Data Entry Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Hire, train and evaluate staff to carry out, maintain and improve operations efficiently.
  • Develop measurable performance goals for each staff member.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree in social work, Non-profit Management, Gerontology, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    5+ years of experience in project management, grant administration (Federal Funding preferred), and community volunteer mobilization. Experience working with older adults in a community setting. Prior experience leading diverse teams is required.
  • Skills:

    Strong proficiency in budget management, grant reporting, proposal writing, public speaking.
  • Staff Supervision: 5 +years providing direct supervision to program staff/
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, volunteer best practices, social determinants of health and the aging process.

Requirements:
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Possess reliable transportation and a Nevada Driver’s License. Ability to attend occasional after-hours and weekend meetings/events is required. Regional travel may be required for this position.
