- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding their status and medical history.
- Collect and record nursing assessments and interventions.
- Review and report the results of health status assessment, physical examination, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data, and psychosocial assessment to the provider.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instruction; provide psychosocial support to patients and families; maintain patient confidentiality.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician; administer medications/blood products with correct medication, dosage, route, time, and technique; obtain pre-authorization and consent forms as needed.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patients and labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting with the physician regarding dosage modifications and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central lines/catheter devices; maintain accurate documentation of patient care and treatments; apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Maintain a safe work environment by restocking supplies, following OSHA guidelines for cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste, ensuring disinfection protocols, and maintaining equipment per quality control standards.
- Facilitate clinical operations and patient care, including managing medication refill requests, assisting physicians with exams, maintaining patient flow, coordinating consultations, pre-testing, diagnostics, referrals, and future appointments; triage patient phone calls and document in the chart; facilitate communication among patient/family and interdisciplinary team; assist patients in locating community resources.
- Collaborate inter-professionally, assist and collaborate with clinical research, act as a resource to LPNs/LVNs and medical assistants, and provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
- Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing by pursuing ongoing educational opportunities.
- High School Diploma; graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education.
- RN license and current registration with the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Preferred: 1 year in Oncology; BSN preferred; must maintain continuing education requirements.
- Business experience: 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.

The work environment is representative of an oncology/hematology clinic. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other related conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable performance of essential functions.
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting of patients, dexterity, eye-hand coordination; standing and walking for extended periods; occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs; requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
