Career Opportunity: Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada is seeking a full-time Chage Registered Nurse at our Medical District clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada.

SCOPE

Provides leadership and support for nursing and clinical support staff who provide professional nursing care to patients and adhere to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Assists the manager of nursing services in supervising and coordinating activities related to nursing functions. Serves as a resource to clinical personnel.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee clinical operations for nursing clinical support activities as directed by the manager of nursing services
  • Assist in providing staff training and in-service instruction
  • Determine staffing requirements and maintain effective nursing staff coverage within budgetary guidelines
  • Participate in interviewing and recruiting nursing personnel
  • Review and revise clinical policies and procedures
  • Verify correct coding and charge capture
  • Assist in annual performance evaluations of nursing and clinical staff
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history
  • Collect and record nursing assessment and interventions
  • Review and report results of health status assessment, physical examination, pertinent labs, radiographic data, and psychosocial assessment
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician
  • Administer medications and blood products with correct dosage, route, time and technique
  • Obtain pre-authorization and consent forms prior to therapy where applicable
  • Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient and labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, and physician as needed
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central lines
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and treatments
  • Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture
  • Maintain work environment
  • Restock supply areas as needed
  • Follow OSHA guidelines for cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste
  • Maintain disinfection protocols
  • Maintain equipment per quality control standards
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care
  • Manage patient medication refill requests and document in the patient chart
  • Assist physician with exams and procedures
  • Maintain efficient patient flow in/out of exam rooms
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-tests, diagnostic tests, referrals and future appointments
  • Triages patient calls and document information in charts
  • Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team
  • Assist patients in locating community resources
  • Inter-professional collaboration
  • Assist and collaborate with clinical research
  • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants
  • Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed
  • Serve as mentor/preceptor and provide day-to-day guidance to less experienced nurses
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing
