Overview
Naph Care is hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – Part‑time 16 hours a week to join a team of medical professionals in the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, NV. Pay rates range from $67.50 - $71.25 per hour based on type of license, certification, site needs, licensure, and experience.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide support to patients within the facility struggling with substance abuse. This unique position allows you to make a difference to a diverse population of patients with complex needs.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions for facility residents.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with psychiatric disorders.
- Manage medication, including prescribing, adjusting, and discontinuing medication as needed.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies, providing immediate interventions and safety protocols.
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensure staff respond to patients’ needs.
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in NV.
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in NV.
- Current DEA registration in NV.
- Active BLS/CPR certification (AHA required).
- Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders.
- Strong communication, written, verbal, and computer skills.
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
- Display integrity and professionalism, and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
