Responsibilities
Summerlin Hospital is a 496‑bed facility with emergency services, a busy maternity department, a Children’s Medical Center, advanced cardiovascular care, surgical services, women’s health and oncology care. The Valley Health System (VHS) operates six hospitals in Las Vegas and Southern Nevada and focuses on patient‑centered care, evidence‑based practice, and continuous improvement.
Job DescriptionAssumes shift responsibility and accountability for the planning and provision of direct and indirect nursing care to patients, families, care partners and others. Coordinates multidisciplinary team members, directs and facilitates nursing staff to achieve safe, optimal health‑care outcomes. Supports activities that align with the facility’s vision, mission, and goals. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team, overseeing and guiding employees under supervision.
Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
Job Requirements Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
ExperienceMinimum of one‑year full‑time or three years part‑time experience in acute‑care specialty nursing. One to three years supervisory experience preferred.
Technical SkillsProficiency in physical assessment of cardiovascular patients and fluency in cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Comfortable with 12‑lead ECG interpretation, cardiac arrhythmias, and experienced in stress testing is preferred.
License / CertificationCurrent RN license in the State of Nevada. Current BLS certification required. ACLS, PALS, NRP and/or required specialty training or course completion (current upon hire) is required.
OtherMust successfully pass any pre‑employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
NoteIncumbents in this position as of 3/1/2023 with 20 years or more in the position will not require a bachelor’s degree.
