Registered Nurse
- Medical/Surgical
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical will work in Inpatient Care Services. The RN
- Medical/Surgical assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
- Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences.
- Administers medications, IV therapies, and treatments accurately and safely, following established protocols and standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and support staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Utilizes electronic health record (EHR) systems to document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient education in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and continuing education to maintain clinical competency.
- Ensures a safe environment by following infection prevention practices, fall prevention measures, and hospital safety protocols.
- Supports patients and families through clear communication, emotional support, and education related to illness, treatment plans, and discharge needs.
- Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals of various education levels and backgrounds by using clear, professional, and respectful communication strategies.
- Works cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments.
- Participates in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs.
- Must be able to successfully complete Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) levels I, II, and III.
- Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to working on the floor; resources are available to assist with obtaining certification.
- Must be able to wear a powered air-purifying type respirator (PAPR) and Level C Personal Protective Equipment.
Work Schedule:
