Graduate Research Assistant - Astrobiology

Job Overview

The Desert Research Institute (DRI) offers graduate research assistantships (GRA) to work on DRI’s campus in a research-related position while completing graduate studies. GRA’s work 50% time during the academic year with the option to work more during winter and summer breaks. Students who aim to remain competitive with peers in comparable programs should anticipate investing effort beyond a strict half-time commitment.

• Work 50% time during the academic year with the option to work more during winter and summer breaks.
• Collaborate with DRI faculty members on cutting edge research.
• Meet academic advisement and degree requirements provided by the university where the individual is enrolled.
• Contribute to research projects across disciplines.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Acceptance into a Master’s or Ph.D. granting program and being registered for a minimum of six graduate credits per semester.
• Ability to work across disciplines as part of a team and independently.
• Laboratory experience and desire to learn to work with bioinformatic datasets.
• Ability to work under varied field conditions and obtain a valid driver's license.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Stipend of $2,400 monthly (half-time) and access to student health services.
• Grant-in-aid waiver covering 100% of tuition per credit costs.

All positions are contingent upon available funding from your DRI advisor’s research projects and may be terminated for lack of funding or performance.
