University of Nevada–Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the Pre-Award Administrator in the Office of Clinical Trials. This full‑time position is located in Las Vegas and is open until the close of the recruitment on 12/31/2026.
Job OverviewThis role supports faculty and staff in seeking, negotiating, and managing clinical trials. The position manages all pre‑award financial and administrative activities for industry‑sponsored and investigator‑initiated clinical research studies, including budget development, proposal submission coordination, regulatory and institutional compliance, and financial integrity for public funds. The role serves as liaison between the university and clinical trial sponsors, federal agencies, foundations, industrial firms, state and local agencies.
Responsibilities- Develop and negotiate clinical trial budgets, coordinate proposal submissions, and ensure regulatory and institutional compliance.
- Facilitate timely study start‑up and maintain financial integrity of public funds.
- Act as point of contact for sponsors, federal agencies, foundations, industrial firms, and state and local agencies.
- Perform cost management and financial tracking, including reconciling project budgets and preparing budget reports.
- Provide financial services for clinical trials and other extramurally‑funded clinical research projects.
- Assist with budget development, financial tracking, or reconciliation activities for sponsored projects.
- Knowledge of sponsored program administration (preaward and postaward) and general research environments, especially clinical trials.
- Basic principles of sponsored project budgeting, cost development, and budget documentation.
- Experience developing budgets, billing grids, and internal cost summaries, reconciling budgets, preparing budget reports and adjustments.
- Familiarity with federal regulations and compliance requirements for sponsored research.
- Understanding of research regulatory compliance: GCP, ICH, CFR, FDA, EU directives, intellectual property, privacy laws, contract authority, human subjects, etc.
- Knowledge of major funding sources and their policies and procedures.
- Experience in an academic medical center or large research institution.
- Certification in research administration (e.g., CRA, CCRC, CPRA) is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Organizational and independent working skills.
- Proficiency in financial and budget management for clinical research.
- Ability to interpret policy and provide guidance as required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; prior experience with budgeting/financial management.
- Fundamental understanding of IRB processes related to clinical trials.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in research administration, clinical trial financial management, or related financial/analytical work in a complex, regulated environment.
- Prior experience in clinical trials.
$52,300 – $69,700 annually.
