Summary
The full‑time Starbucks Shift Lead brings the Starbucks experience to life at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts by leading shifts and overseeing store operations. In a vibrant store environment, the Shift Lead guides team members, maintains an encouraging culture, and drives operational excellence while delivering an exceptional customer experience and expertly crafted products.
Responsibilities- Lead shifts and oversee daily store operations, ensuring efficient completion of all tasks.
- Assign duties to team members based on operational needs and distribute workload evenly.
- Support new hire training by providing positive reinforcement, coaching, and ongoing development.
- Create a positive learning environment through clear, timely, respectful coaching and feedback.
- Promote a supportive team atmosphere by encouraging collaboration, open communication, and mutual support.
- Partner with the Store Manager and Human Resources to address personnel matters.
- Deliver world‑class customer service with a customer‑comes‑first attitude.
- Anticipate customer needs, evaluate the store environment, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Serve as an ambassador for The Smith Center and Symphony Park, demonstrating the mission and values.
- Complete shift opening and closing procedures and checklists in accordance with policies.
- Assist in inventory management: ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies accurately.
- Participate in marketing promotion activities to drive engagement and sales.
- Maintain high standards of sanitation, food safety, and health regulations.
- Monitor and reconcile financial transactions, ensure accuracy, and handle cashless payments.
- Maintain reliable attendance and perform other assigned duties.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three or more years of customer service experience, preferably in retail or food and beverage.
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
- Ability to supervise, coach, and mentor team members.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Experience handling monetary transactions and basic accounting principles.

- Minimum age eighteen (18).
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Experience using point‑of‑sales (POS) systems and store‑related technology.
- Familiarity with cashless payment systems is a plus.
Job Requirements
- Standing, bending, walking, and using fine motor skills for extended periods.
- Regular lifting, moving, carrying, pushing, and pulling of 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance in various work areas.
- Consistent stair use and hand/arm movements for food preparation and cleaning.
- Regular hand washing per health and sanitation regulations.
- Requirement for close and peripheral vision.
- Tolerance for dust, steam, refrigeration, ice, loud noises, and temperature variations.
- Nevada Food Handler Safety Training Card (required).
- Hourly rate of $20.00 per hour, tip eligible.
