The Retail Associate champions weirdness, radical inclusion, and the power of creativity to change the world. Reporting to the Retail Manager, the Retail Associate creates an out of this world shopping experience for our guests. Retail Associates will have expansive knowledge of our products, prepare and display merchandise and assist guests with their transactions. We encourage Retail Associate to elevate the narrative within our story world by executing their job duties with a performative and creative flair.

Job Description:

Welcome guests to the exhibition and/or gift shop and answer their questions. Perform job responsibilities with a creative flair that elevates the exhibition narrative. Deliver a memorable guest experience through exceptional customer service. Monitor crowds and assist with crowd control to ensure the safety of guests and staff. Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options. Maintain in-stock and presentable conditions throughout the Retail space.

Process POS (point of sale) purchases and merchandise returns. Receive products and stock the sales floor, including processing incoming shipments, restocking displays, merchandising, etc. Collaborate with other team members to create and maintain a pleasant environment for guests. Comply with inventory control procedures. Respond to injuries and emergencies appropriately, including reporting incidents to the Manager on Duty. Fulfill other duties as required or directed by management.

To be successful in this role... Strong service skills and a welcoming demeanor required. Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices. Communicate with others to exchange information. Embody Meow Wolf customer service expectations to enhance guest's experience. Learn and operate ticketing and point-of-sale systems. Follow and enforce safety rules. Maintain composure in stressful situations. Adaptable to changes in a fast-paced work environment.

An interest in the arts. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.

It would be nice to have... Prior work experience in high-volume, guest-facing spaces such as retail, museums, theme parks, recreation facilities, escape rooms. Prior experience with point-of-sale systems. Hidden talents that can be employed as part of the persona including but not limited to: singing, dancing, magic, comedy, conversationalist, impersonator, or otherwise. Bilingual, especially but not limited to English and Spanish.

Work Environment... This position works in indoor settings with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines, and small and/ or enclosed spaces. When working in outdoor settings, the position is exposed to weather conditions, and varied temperatures.

Physical Demands... Moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight spaces. Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The positioning of moving objects up to 20 pounds, occasionally while on a stepstool. All employees will comply with company and OSHA standard workplace safety protocols.

Work Schedule... This is a part-time position. This position works a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
