Position Overview

As an Appraisal Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer experiences while helping achieve store Appraisal Buy goals. This position offers the opportunity to engage with customers, build trust, and guide them through the appraisal process with confidence and professionalism. • Deliver outstanding customer service throughout every interaction.
• Build rapport quickly with diverse customers and confidently explain the Car Max appraisal process.
• Communicate effectively in-person and by phone to understand customer motivations and follow up with undecided sellers.
• Advocate for Car Max, clearly sharing why we’re the smart choice for selling a car.
• Facilitate appraisal steps, including discovery, presenting offers, and addressing objections.
• Accurately collect and input data to support precise appraisal offers and maintain composure under pressure, ensuring a positive experience in challenging situations.
• Follow Car Max Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

• Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service in a dynamic environment.
• Strong attention to detail for reading, interpreting, and transcribing data accurately.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a high-energy, fast-paced setting.
• Excellent verbal communication and listening skills for engaging with customers and team members.
• Completion of Car Max training and participation in scheduled meetings.
• Physical capability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, while wearing Car Max-provided work attire.

This position is eligible for commission.

Except as otherwise required by state law, Car Max Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.

Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commissioned are eligible:

• To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
• For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
