Position: SALES/INTERNET SALES

New Vehicle Salesperson

Reports to: GENERAL SALES MANAGER

Position Summary: The New Vehicle Salesperson is directly responsible for selling new vehicles meeting gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction standards. Must present a professional appearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine each customer’s vehicle needs by asking pertinent questions and carefully listening.
  • Demonstrate new vehicles, including test drives.
  • Properly introduce new customers to the Service facilities and to the appropriate Service personnel.
  • Deliver new vehicles to customers, ensuring the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features, warranty and maintenance schedule and laying the foundation for customer loyalty.
  • Maintain an owner follow‑up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
  • Keep informed of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to customers.
  • Review monthly objectives, weekly activities and daily planned activities with the Sales Manager.
  • Understand the terminology of the automobile business, stay informed on technological changes and be able to communicate to customers.
  • Report any vehicle lot damage or any problem with a vehicle to the Sales Manager immediately.
  • Know and understand federal, state and local laws governing retail auto sales.
  • Complete all mandatory training as directed by supervisor.
  • Follow policies and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Educational: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: None.

Special

Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to meet a minimum quota according to facility standards. Ability to use personal computer applications including word processing and spreadsheet software. Current valid driver’s license and state sales license.

Physical Demands and

Working Conditions:

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally requires the ability to lift 20 pounds of material. Potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle dealership. Occasionally exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.

Internet Salesperson

Department: Sales

Reports to: INTERNET DIRECTOR/GENERAL SALES MANAGER

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Sells new automobiles, including cars, trucks and vans by obtaining and responding to internet leads at dealership gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction standards by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to customer requests from the internet lead system and determine make, type and quality of vehicle desired.
  • Provide details about features and suggest optional equipment for customer purchase.
  • Research availability of models and optional equipment using computer database.
  • Set appointments with customers to visit the dealership to demonstrate the vehicle via a test‑drive.
  • Consult with Sales Manager when necessary; never allow a customer to walk without first consulting with a Sales Manager.
  • Deliver new vehicle to customer, ensuring the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features, warranty and paperwork and laying the foundation for customer loyalty.
  • Maintain an owner follow‑up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a prospect development system and make follow‑up calls to potential customers.
  • Follow established selling steps and selling policies and procedures.
  • Remain knowledgeable of new products, features, accessories, etc.
  • Attend sales meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  • Meet or exceed written forecast and projection numbers.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
