• Establish or improve relationships with customers to understand sales territory, schedules, and needs via phone and visits.
• Interview customers to determine product needs and record information for product delivery.
• Communicate with customers by phone or in person to receive and process orders.
• Solicit sales of new or additional products.
• Practice good interpersonal relations, using courtesy, a positive attitude, and pleasant telephone etiquette as a representative of the company.
• Liaise between customers and Codale departments, including credit purchasing, warehouse, outside sales, and management.
• Determine make, type, and quality of merchandise desired by using product catalogs, vendor information, and special selling points.
• Identify and use appropriate pricing systems.
• Make phone calls to regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
• Describe or demonstrate product using samples or catalogs and emphasize salable features.
• Compile lists of prospective customers for sales leads.
• Provide oral and written quotations or estimates of prices, terms, and delivery for standard, complex, or non‑standard merchandise.
• Prepare cash or charge sales tickets with required identification, necessary customer information, merchandise details, price, and sales tax status for timely processing, shipment, and delivery.
• Estimate delivery dates to customers based on the firm’s delivery schedules.
• Purchase materials following approved purchasing procedures.
• Review complaints concerning billing or products and refer them to designated departments for investigation and resolution.
• Prepare correspondence and reports necessary for business transactions.
• Follow up on quotations in an attempt to write the order or to gather input for future quotations.
• Resolve customer order problems and complaints diplomatically and seek assistance when needed.
• Acquire and continuously develop personal technical knowledge of general and specialty merchandise items to assist customers and company personnel.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to perform math functions representative of the position.
• In-depth knowledge of Codale computer systems and Microsoft Office.
• Team player who abides by Codale’s core values and beliefs.
