What You’ll Do
Special Events Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment during special events, functions, and high‑traffic gatherings. The role involves monitoring event spaces, controlling access, responding to incidents, and providing professional support to guests, staff, and event organizers while ensuring compliance with company policies and security procedures.
Role ExpectationsResponsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of guests and fellow team members.
- Gives directions and provides escorts to guests/customers in need.
- Has the ability to set up wandering stations and check all bags entering the venue.
- Can effectively communicate with members of security and showroom management.
- Provides assistance to civil and law enforcement authorities, including testimony in court and other administrative hearings.
- Makes chip fills, jackpot verifications.
- Regularly provides escorts of money and persons in money‑handling positions.
- Provides first aid, including CPR when necessary.
- Patrols all sections of property to identify safety hazards and breaks in security.
- Interviews, investigates and documents all applicable incidents in accordance with company policy.
- Assists with lost and found inquiries.
- Enforces venue rules, policies, and safety regulations consistently and fairly.
- Upon arrival, ensures the theater is in operating condition, checking all emergency exits and applicable stairwells and ensuring an AED is in working order; reports unsafe or blocked areas to the manager on shift or supervisor/lead.
- Is in assigned area by designated time, ready to work with company‑issued equipment.
- Works directly with the box office to ensure VIP & VVIP guests are handled appropriately, seating reconfigurations are known and managed.
- Exhibits sound judgment when making decisions that affect the flow of customers in and out of the venues.
- Understands and performs duties of assignment.
- Monitors physical surroundings in assigned area prior to and throughout show for safety, cleanliness, and functionality; notifies the showroom supervisor of concerns.
- Responds quickly and courteously to patrons’ needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action.
- At the end of show/event, walks through assigned area, retrieves lost items, and turns them into lost and found.
- Submits assigned reports as directed.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements- Security Officers are required to attend and complete the Security Academy within 30 days of employment.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, including ability to maintain composure under stress.
- Flexible shifts, available to work nights and weekends, including holidays.
- Ability to make a quick decision and/or take charge of a potentially volatile or unpleasant situation.
- Ability to respond to acts of aggression at the lowest level necessary to effect control.
- Ability to assess an incident and determine based on training and experience which options in the force continuum will be best to de‑escalate the situation in a safe and prudent manner.
- Actively assists with established front‑of‑house emergency procedures, familiar with location and operation of emergency exits and equipment.
- Assists house manager with procedures for injuries, medical problems, etc.
- Assists patrons with ADA/special needs.
- Provides accurate knowledge to patrons regarding venue logistics (location of ticket office, restrooms, concessions, information about the show/event, general building history, etc.).
- Documents and writes detailed voluntary statements.
- Reads event tickets with visual acuity corrected to read as small as 11‑font print in dim lighting using a flashlight.
- Prior military, police, or security background is a plus, but not required.
