Police Officer
University Police Officer II (Part-Time) – multiple positions available across the Nevada System of Higher Education campuses.
Responsibilities- Protect university employees, students, and the public.
- Patrol and safeguard university properties and surrounding areas.
- Conduct traffic investigations, criminal and non‑criminal investigations.
- Prepare for security and law enforcement activities surrounding special events.
- Appear in court, maintain assigned equipment, and perform special assignments related to law‑enforcement and peace officer functions.
- Maintain law and order on all Nevada System of Higher Education facilities.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of law‑enforcement experience; or Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice, police science, psychology or a closely related field and six months of law‑enforcement experience; or one year experience as a University Police Officer I in Nevada State service.
- Certification:
Category 1 P.O.S.T. certification; completion of field training; permanent status as Police Officer 1 and 2. - Valid driver’s license at time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
- Success in a comprehensive background check, reciprocal physical‑fitness test within six weeks of hire, and psychological testing that may include a polygraph.
- Meet the minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer as established in Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code.
Grade 41 Step 1; salary $80,763.84.
