University Police Officer 2 (Part‑Time)

University Police Department, Southern Command invites applications for the University Police Officer 2 (Part‑time). Multiple positions are open across the Nevada System of Higher Education campuses.

Positions may be assigned to any campus within the Nevada System of Higher Education, including the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the College of Southern Nevada, Desert Research Institute, and Nevada State College.

Documentation of PO2 credentials is required. Applicants currently meeting the listed credentials or who will meet Nevada reciprocity requirements are eligible.

• Protect university employees, students, and the public.
• Patrol and safeguard university facilities and surrounding areas.
• Conduct traffic investigations.
• Conduct criminal and non‑criminal investigations.
• Prepare for security and law‑enforcement activities at special events.
• Appear in court as required.
• Maintain and service assigned equipment.
• Perform special assignments related to law‑enforcement and peace‑officer functions.
• Maintain law and order throughout the assigned area.

• Graduated from high school or equivalent and one year of law‑enforcement experience; or
• Associate of Arts degree or equivalent coursework in criminal justice, police science, psychology, or a closely related field and six months of law‑enforcement experience; or
• One year of experience as a University Police Officer I in Nevada State service.
• Valid driver’s license at time of appointment and throughout employment.
• Must meet Nevada Revised Statutes and Administrative Code minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer.
• Pass a comprehensive background check, psychological testing (including polygraph), and a reciprocity post‑hire physical fitness test within six weeks of hire.

Part‑time, temporary position with an hourly rate of $40.
