KMM is seeking experienced broadband installers and cabling technicians to perform installation of rooftop antennas, ethernet cabling, DPU’s and Test Modems in Multi-dwelling Units (MDU).
OverviewPerform installations, connections, and system testing of Rooftop (RT) antennas, Distribution Point Units (DPU’s), Test Modems and related USBc and ethernet cables in apartment buildings, offices, and commercial locations. The scope of work will focus on the installation of equipment from the RT radio/antenna all the way down to the test modem inside the MDU. MDU equipment may be installed in the interior or on the exterior of the building, and may be installed in telecom closets, on the roof of the building, or other designated areas as designated by the site survey.
Electrical experience and civil experience are preferred.
- Mount the DPU, test modem, and test coax splitter in designated locations
- Connect DPU via ethernet and run cabling to the roof via coax riser
- Connect coax cable to coax outputs of the DPU.
- Connect coax cable from the DPU to a coax splitter for testing
- Run coax cable out through the telecom closet to the riser to be distributed throughout the building
- Run POE cable to the site of the RT radio/antenna installation
- Install new coax cable down existing coax riser or building exterior with splitters installed at every floor of the MDU
- Connect the test modem to 1×2 splitter
- Install RT radio/antennas on roof locations using a sled and ballast (or radio mount if applicable)
- Ensure that MDU RT Radio/antennas are properly aligned for azimuth and elevation
- Ensure all attachment hardware has been properly tightened and locked down per manufacturer’s specifications
- Validate all grounding, power, communications cables are properly connected, secured and protected from the weather using appropriate sealing material (glands, tape, etc.) as well as drip loops and proper dressing of all cables
- Confirm that signal levels have been received from AP to RT radio/antennas
- Complete end to end testing
- Provide completion documentation to include results speed tests, hardware serial numbers, and full system test
- Civil experience including trenching & conduit placement a plus
- Basic Electrical experience or certifications a big plus
- 18 Years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Previous wireless telecommunications experience
- Experience with telecommunicationscable installation
- Familiar with basic hand and power tools
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable form of transportation
- Basic math skills
- Comfortable working on rooftops and in confined spaces
- Customer service and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
