Maintenance Mechanic

Safe and reliable, the Maintenance Mechanic will provide service and maintenance on equipment and machines, as well as assist in the construction of new equipment and machines.

Full‑time position, Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, with 2nd shift one week every other month (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm), or as assigned by department manager. Overtime as business demands require.

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Follow all company policies, rules, and regulations.
• Act as a professional representative of Wausau Coated Products, Inc. at all times.
• Install, dismantle, or move heavy equipment and machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and machines.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Collaborate with manager/lead on projects and needs for production equipment.
• Recognize hazards and obey zero‑energy‑state:
  Lockout‑Tagout policy.
• Proficient at rigging equipment into place, including use of jibs, tackles, slings, powered lift trucks.
• Operate metal forming and fabrication equipment (brakes, shears, cut‑off saws).
• Proficient at welding MIG, TIG, Arc; experienced fabricator using mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Operate pipe‑fitting equipment and perform pneumatic and hydraulic installations and repairs.
• Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
• Position, align or level equipment, machines, or structures.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment to ensure proper function, including basic electrical support.
• Operate manual mill and lathe proficiently; ability to run CNC mill occasionally.
• Rotate on call / 2nd shift coverage one week every other month.

• Two (2) years of vocational school with machining, maintenance, or equipment servicing preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of equipment maintenance support and/or custom fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate with co‑workers and utilize every means necessary to keep equipment and machines operating safely and efficiently.
• Ability to follow directions and read layout plans, schematics, blueprints, and other drawings.
• Ability to keep records/use computer.
• Ability to work 8–9‑hour shifts, including weekends when needed.
• A willingness to work reasonable weekly or daily overtime as required or needed.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.
• Willingness to travel to other WCP facilities such as Las Vegas, NV and Plymouth, MN a few times per year for up to a week at a time.
