Carpenter, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor

Purpose and Scope

Maintain all real property structures such as wooden, metal, and mobile type buildings. Perform inside and outside carpentry maintenance, repairs, replacements, and modifications of wood/metal or other materials used in frameworks, rafters, trusses, interior and exterior trim, staircases, and structural additions.

• Expertly perform rough and finish framing, steel framing, steel forms, and wall forms.
• Hang drywall, install and repair suspended ceilings and raised flooring.
• Perform Journeyman‑level finish carpentry and concrete forming.
• Perform locksmith services, including installing, repairing, modifying, and opening various locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults.
• Operate general purpose vehicles, equipment, and machinery related to carpentry and locksmith work.
• Lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions using measuring instruments and compute dimensions.
• Identify material requirements and create lists in government‑acceptable format.
• Assist in maintaining shop inventory and document required readings, records, and documentation.
• Ensure quality control of all work and adherence to safety and occupational health standards.
• Perform other position‑related duties as assigned.

• Journeyman‑level experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Six (6) years of experience in facility management and government civil engineering procedures.
• Experience building/laying out different types of cement forms and proficiency in drywall installation.
• Proficient in use of carpenter’s hand tools, portable power tools, measuring instruments, and locksmith equipment.
• Ability to obtain and retain a valid Nevada driver’s license.
• Ability to read, write and understand written and verbal instructions in English.
• Strong judgment, patience, and ability to work under stressful conditions.
• Proficiency in using automated programs compatible with government systems.
• Must qualify for and maintain a U.S. Government Top‑Secret security clearance and work‑location access; U.S. citizenship is required.

Regularly required to stand, use hands, reach overhead, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, grip or torque wrist, lift items weighing 50 lbs (occasionally > 75 lbs), and work in extreme heat, vibration, wet or humid conditions.

$49.77 per hour (estimation). Actual compensation may vary based on responsibilities, experience, market data, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable laws.
