Job Description
This technical trade position requires facility operations experience and is responsible for a detailed segment of the facilities department. The role ensures safe and efficient operation of critical assets and building systems, accurate reporting in the department MMS system and other tools, timely completion of work assignments, high productivity, and a positive attitude in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities- Strong understanding of the base facilities trades, including electrical systems up to 480 volts, plumbing domestic water systems, grease and sanitary sewer, and mechanical systems such as chilled water, hot water, steam and HVAC.
- Record asset measurements, identify inconsistencies in operating pressures, temperatures or other metering outputs.
- Use and expose refrigerant‑based systems on a daily basis; EPA certification may be required for work performance, data logging and recordkeeping.
- Possess strong troubleshooting skills for assets used in central plant operations, plumbing supply/waste systems, HVAC, pneumatic and electric/electronic systems.
- Have knowledge of programmable logic controllers, including troubleshooting and programming replacements.
- Have a strong understanding of rebuilding pumps & motors, programming variable drives, repairing plumbing leaks, and performing electrical repairs.
- Demonstrate strong computer skills; use building management/automation software, electronic MMS work order systems, and company‑specific programs.
- Understand all regional permitting and administrative codes to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in all company‑provided safety training and adhere to OSHA guidelines and departmental safety guidelines.
- Have basic blueprint‑reading skills to understand existing systems or proposed additions.
- Meet deadlines and complete job tasks as set by Facilities leadership without direct monitoring.
- Be flexible to accommodate additional hours for various projects or on‑site coverage.
- Handle tools, supplies and equipment exceeding 50 lbs, using tool assistance as needed.
- Mentor and develop entry‑level/apprentice positions and oversee their exposure and progress when assigned.
- Support team compliance with company and department policies and procedures.
- Strong computer skills (MS products including Excel).
- Good communication skills (oral and written).
- Maintenance management and building automation systems experience.
- EPA Universal Certification required; journeyman level electrical or plumbing certification is a plus.
- Multi‑lingual ability is a plus.
- Office environment.
- Property back‑of‑house locations.
- Mechanical and electrical rooms with high noise conditions.
