The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Plumber 1 (Shadow Lane), Facilities Management [R0152549]

ROLE of the POSITION

Plumber 1 incumbent will perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of UNLV's plumbing systems and protection devices. On a daily basis ensure plumbing systems and equipment, and protection devices are functioning properly and in accordance with specifications. All equipment, piping, and machinery must be installed to conform to the latest plumbing codes of our community. This includes, but not limited to: line supplies, drains, showers, toilets, deep vats, lab faucets/equipment, photographic baths, drinking fountains, hydration stations, wall hydrants, domestic waste lines, acid waste, copper lines, gas lines, etc.

Annually inspect and/or test protection devices on potable and industrial systems, including reduced pressure backflow prev enters, double check valves, pressure vacuum breakers, atmospheric vacuum breakers, and air gabs. Repair and/or replace devices as required. Routine maintenance on existing systems is at the forefront to keep UNLV campus operational at all times. This includes, but not limited to: line stoppages, overflowing toilets, non-flushing urinals, inoperable showers, eyewash stations, etc.

If any plumbing system fails, restore to working order as quickly as possible.

Perform plumbing related preventative and predictive maintenance for UNLV campus wide. When a PM work request is assigned, all associated fixtures in the building shall be operated to ensure the care and servicing for the purpose of maintaining equipment, systems and facilities in satisfactory operating condition. The purpose is to provide systematic inspection, detection, and correction of incipient failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects.

Test for leaks by advancing the valves controlling the fixture to the most open position and to the fully closed position. Check p-traps by filling the fixture to an adequate level and dumping suddenly to shock the system and ensure leaks and blockages are not present. Maintain PM schedule and complete in the appropriate time frame. Work required as a result of findings during PM will be submitted in writing to the Facility Supervisor to generate a work order.

Ensure required documents, records and inventory are maintained in accordance with established standards. Responsible for thoroughness and accuracy of daily timesheets, work orders, leave requests, overtime sheets, etc. Coordinate with the Facility Supervisor in both maintaining and monitoring stock inventory. Ensure compliance with Department, University, Federal, State and County regulations. Properly log required information such as documentation for the State Public Works Board.

The schedule is 5-8s, 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday. The schedule is subject to change depending upon department needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position requires a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Achieve an AWWA or ABPA back-flow license within one year and maintain throughout employment.
