Automotive And Equipment Technician I/II

The Clark County Department of Aviation (DOA) is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Automotive and Equipment Technician I/II position. This position works in conjunction with various DOA divisions, along with other technicians and specialists, to ensure that support vehicles and equipment continue to operate smoothly and efficiently for all airport activities. This position maintains, repairs, and overhauls automobiles, heavy and light truck and other vehicles, construction equipment, small gasoline engines, and stationary equipment.

In addition, this position operates a variety of hand, power, and shop tools.

Automotive and Equipment Technician I: $26.00 - $38.46 Hourly

Automotive and Equipment Technician II: $28.15 - $41.52 Hourly

The Automotive and Equipment Technician I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Automotive and Equipment Technician II. This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience:

Automotive and Equipment Technician I
- Equivalent to graduation from high school AND three (3) years of full-time experience in automotive equipment services and repair work. Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the automotive trade may be substituted for the three (3) years of required experience. Automotive and Equipment Technician II
- In addition to the above:
Minimum of one (1) year of journey-level experience in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and/or heavy construction equipment. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the apprenticeship program on a year for year basis. Attendance at a recognized trade school is desirable. All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application.

Working Conditions:

Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work with exposure to potentially hazardous fuels, oils and solvents.

Licensing and Certification:
Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment; specified positions may require a Class A license with endorsements required to road test and/or operate heavy duty vehicles and equipment.

Medical Examination:
Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing:
Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination. Residency Requirement:
Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment. Citizenship:
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Background Check:
Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted and maintain a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration.

Physical Demands

Mobility to work in a typical shop or related maintenance setting, including operating typical trade test equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment; stamina to stand, walk and climb and to work in confined or awkward spaces for an extended period of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds with proper equipment;
