Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) – Las Vegas Metro

Hiring Field Service Tech / Mechanic

Primary responsibility is to perform vehicle troubleshooting, repair and maintenance work on chassis and track mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and other equipment in accordance with dealer and factory standards, in the field.

  • CTOS provides Utility Truck with a 4–6-ton crane, welder, air compressor & specialty tools.
  • CTOS Equipment:
    Boom Trucks / Cranes, Bucket / Dump Trucks, Digger Derricks, Utility Trucks & more.
  • You provide mechanical tools and must have a Valid Driver’s License. A Class B CDL is a plus.
  • Monday – Friday, Day Shift, Overtime and Weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to travel overnight when needed (estimated at 25 – 50% plus).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reports to Field Service Manager, who will provide description of issues and supporting information related to the vehicle.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and repair orders/instructions to perform required maintenance and service. Must have the ability to utilize laptop to access needed information and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Perform work as outlined in work instructions set forth by Service Manager; efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Custom Truck One Source standards.
  • Diagnose and repair LMI Diagnostics (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus (Controller Area Network).
  • Experience troubleshooting and repair of Utility trucks & Equipment including electrical and hydraulics.
  • Inspect and service vehicles and make repairs and adjustments both at the service center and in the field.
  • Verify work performed, road test vehicles as necessary.
  • Prepare inspection reports, repair orders (recording service time and parts costs) and timecards completely and accurately.
  • Tag all warranty and core parts for return.
  • Advise management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Attend CTOS safety training and follow all safety requirements.
  • Attend CTOS and factory-sponsored training classes.
  • Communicate easily with customers and internal departments to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Must be flexible to travel beyond the area of coverage, based on business need.
  • Work closely with Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Perform additional duties or responsibilities as designated by the Service Manager.
Preferred Skills
  • Electrical, schematic / blueprints, hydraulic, welding, and related experience.
  • Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or related diagnostic software.
  • DOT, ANSI, and Dielectric testing desired.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Five years of related experience (Shop Tech and Field Tech).
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license (CDL Class B preferred).
  • Must have your own tools.
  • Must be proficient in documentation using software, meeting deadlines and schedules.
Mental/Physical Requirements
  • Must regularly work in outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions. Must occasionally be exposed to extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Must have a positive attitude, professionalism, punctual attendance.
  • Must have physical capability for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable with heights and manual labor.
  • Must possess manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment.
