A highly skilled UPS Field Engineer is needed to apply an in-depth knowledge of UPS start‑up, testing and operations. This role involves commissioning, maintenance and emergency support for power electronics at customer sites, primarily in the Las Vegas, Nevada region.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct commissioning‑focused design reviews, prepare test procedures and reports, and oversee on‑site testing.
- Perform preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start‑up and field modifications.
- Coordinate with technical support to resolve maintenance or operational issues.
- Assist in developing Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
- Report to a supervisor any unusual issues or developments.
- Train periodically at company headquarters on testing equipment and rebuilding systems.
- Complete Field Service Reports promptly and provide proactive recommendations to clients.
- Be based from home; travel primarily within Las Vegas, Nevada and occasionally nationwide (excluding emergencies).
- Be willing to work nights, weekends and be on‑call when needed.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience; preferred 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Skilled in troubleshooting equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDUs, STSs, etc.
- Proficient with hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and repairs.
- Strong verbal, written communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and initiative.
- Knowledge of equipment manufacturers’ specifications.
- Physically capable of bending and lifting up to 100 lbs as required.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
- Prior experience with third‑party UPS service providers is a plus.
- OEM factory training or experience with brands such as Emerson/Liebert/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware/PDI is required.
- A technical degree (e.g., DeVry, Lincoln Tech) is a plus.
- Military veterans with experience in Electrical/Mechanical systems are highly valued (Navy EMN, ETN, MMNs, Army Power Generation, Air Force Power Production, Coast Guard, etc.).
- Must have a clean driving record.
Candidate preferred to live in the Las Vegas, Nevada area.
