** Electrician 1, Facilities Management [R0152772]****#
**** ROLE of the POSITION
**** The Electrician 1 incumbent responsibilities include performing skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of UNLV’s electrical equipment. Employ journey level knowledge of electrical equipment including but not limited to; switchboards, transformers, panel boards, interior/exterior lighting and lighting control systems and motor control. Maintain, troubleshoot and repair each system using modern test equipment. Perform electrical installations both new and remodel.
Order parts and materials as appropriate. Ensure required documents, records and inventory are maintained in accordance with established standards. Responsible for thoroughness and accuracy of daily timesheets, work orders, leave requests, overtime sheets, etc. Coordinate with the Electrician Supervisor in both maintaining and monitoring stock inventory. Ensure compliance with Department, University, Federal, State and County regulations. Properly log required information such as documentation for the State Public Works Board.
Exhibit overall professionalism, efficiency and thoroughness. A work environment focused on customer service. Participate in structured shop meetings. Professionally interact with the campus community to understand their needs. Ensure work performance of repairs, maintenance, or other functions support the fastest response time possible for our customers. Understanding priorities can and will change rapidly. As they do, adapt to the new priorities.
Ultimately, everything you do should be to support our customers in a safe, timely manner demonstrating highest quality of work. The schedule is Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and is subject to change depending upon the needs of the department. #
**** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
**** Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition for continuing employment.#
**** PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
***** General knowledge of lighting controls for the following systems. Honeywell, Lutron and Phillips / Signify
* Proficient in bending of Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) for the following sizes. 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch.
* Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). How to interpret readings and how to navigate book.
* General knowledge in the steps to trouble shooting electrical systems to find the cause of the problem.#
