Position: TRAFFIC SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN I/II

About The Position

The Clark County Public Works Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Traffic Systems Technician I/II position. This technical position conducts field installation, maintenance, and repair of existing traffic signals, pedestrian flashers, and school flasher facilities. In this critical role, the ideal candidate will be a part of the Traffic Signal Unit and provide technical support throughout Clark County to ensure proper operation of traffic systems.

This role will use software for documentation and record-keeping, understand traffic signal operations, and will troubleshoot and problem-solve traffic signal issues.

Traffic Systems Technician II: $33.65 - $49.74 Hourly About The Position

The Clark County Public Works Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Traffic Systems Technician I/II position. This technical position conducts field installation, maintenance, and repair of existing traffic signals, pedestrian flashers, and school flasher facilities. In this critical role, the ideal candidate will be a part of the Traffic Signal Unit and provide technical support throughout Clark County to ensure proper operation of traffic systems.

Traffic Systems Technician I: $31.20 - $46.05 Hourly Traffic Systems Technician II: $33.65 - $49.74 Hourly

The Traffic Systems Technician I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Traffic Systems Technician II.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.

Minimum Requirements

Traffic Systems Technician I
- Equivalent to graduation from high school, and successful completion of an Electronics Technician or Technologist Diploma or Electrical Training Program, AND two (2) years of skilled full-time experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic and electrical equipment. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the above education on a year-for-year basis.

Traffic Systems Technician II – In addition to the above:
Minimum of one (1) year of full-time traffic signal craft experience.

Working Conditions

Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Exposure to exhaust fumes, seasonal severe heat and heavy traffic. Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Licensing and Certification

Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment and maintain during occupancy of position.

Must obtain the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA-10) completion card within fifteen (15) days from date of hire and renew, as required.

Must obtain a valid Nevada Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within one (1) year from date of hire and maintain during occupancy of position.

Traffic Systems Technician I
- Must obtain valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification for Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control Technician and Traffic Signal Technician Level I within one (1) year from date of hire and renew certification, as required.

Traffic Systems Technician II
- Possess a valid Nevada Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at time of appointment and maintain during occupancy of position.
