Pay Rate: $41 per hour
Per Diem: $770 per week
Job DescriptionThis role leads a millwright crew in the installation and alignment of heavy industrial equipment, with a strong focus on ball mill installations as a specialty trade. You will oversee all mechanical installations on a remote industrial site, including new ball mills, CIL tanks, filter presses, and thickener tanks, while rebuilding a plant after demolition of an existing facility. The position combines hands-on field work with significant computer-based review of technical documentation and project drawings.
ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise a millwright crew in the installation of industrial equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
Perform ball mill installations as a specialty trade, including a 17 by 30 ball mill and similar large rotating equipment.
Set and install sole plates using precision optics to achieve accurate alignment and proper equipment foundations.
Align motors and gears using laser alignment equipment and laser liners, ensuring precise gear and motor alignment for reliable operation.
Access, review, and interpret project drawings and documentation using computer systems, including files stored in Dropbox.
Use Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel and Outlook, for project tracking, documentation, and communication.
Review extensive ball mill manuals and technical documentation, totaling approximately 1,600 pages, to ensure installations follow manufacturer specifications.
Oversee all mechanical installations, including filter presses, CIL tanks, thickener tanks, and related industrial equipment.
Spend approximately 50% of working time on computer-based tasks, including reviewing manuals, drawings, and project information.
Coordinate and direct construction activities, including some startup-related tasks, to support commissioning of new equipment.
Instruct and oversee crews of around 12 workers, including directing wire pulling activities and other mechanical tasks.
Apply experience with SAG mills, rotary kilns, or industrial dryers to plan and execute similar types of installations.
Ensure proper use and care of precision instruments such as optical levels and laser alignment tools provided by the company.
Collaborate with other site personnel to rebuild the plant after demolition of the old industrial site, ensuring equipment is installed according to design.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment alignment data, and installation progress using digital tools and PDF software such as Bluebeam or Adobe.
Work effectively in a remote, outdoor industrial environment at high elevation, adapting to changing weather and site conditions.
If applicable, communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking crew members and provide bilingual leadership support.
Proven experience as a millwright foreman or equivalent role leading industrial installation crews.
Demonstrated experience overseeing at least 12 people at a time on heavy industrial projects.
Significant ball mill installation experience, including specialty trade work on large mills such as a 17 by 30 ball mill.
Experience with SAG mill installations or similar large rotating equipment, recognizing that the installation processes are closely related.
Hands-on experience setting sole plates using precision optics to achieve accurate alignment.
Proficiency using laser alignment equipment, including easy line laser alignment systems, for motor and gear alignment.
Construction and heavy industrial project experience, including some startup knowledge for new equipment.
Ability to instruct and manage crews in tasks such as wire pulling and mechanical assembly for industrial installations.
