About The Position

The Clark County Department of Real Property Management is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Automotive and Equipment Technician I/II position in the Automotive Division. This position will perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work on a variety of Clark County vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will be skilled in independently servicing and maintaining gasoline and diesel engines, power transmission systems, steering mechanisms, and other automotive and heavy-duty vehicle components.

Responsibilities also include adhering to safety protocols, delivering excellent customer service, and following both written and verbal instructions.

PLEASE NOTE:

This position could also be subject to shift work that includes nights, evenings, and weekends. Automotive and Equipment Technician I: $26.70 - $39.50 Hourly Automotive and Equipment Technician II: $28.91 - $42.64 Hourly

The Automotive and Equipment Technician I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Automotive and Equipment Technician II.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

Automotive and Equipment Technician I
- Equivalent to graduation from high school AND three (3) years of full-time experience in automotive equipment services and repair work. Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the automotive trade may be substituted for the three (3) years of required experience.

Automotive and Equipment Technician II
- In addition to the above:
Minimum of one (1) year of full-time journey-level experience in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and/or heavy construction equipment. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the apprenticeship program on a year for year basis. Attendance at a recognized trade school is desirable.
