Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday 7:00am - 3:30pm, 8 hours per day, 32 hours per week.

The Bicycle Mechanic position is responsible for assisting in the inspection, maintenance, repair and assembly of the RTC bike share fleet. Reporting to the Field Operations Supervisor, the Mechanic will complete monthly in-field safety inspections on all bikes as well as assist with repairs on bicycles in the shop and the field, as well as assist with battery swapping, bike assembly, and other operational work as needed.

This position will require riding a cargo bike loaded with equipment and navigating the city safely by bicycle. This position will entail outdoor work with high exposure to the public and potentially inclement weather. Bike shop experience is preferred, and urban riding experience is a must. Mechanics will receive full training on the specific maintenance requirements of the bicycles; however, experience working in mechanically and technically minded environments is required.

Core Responsibilities:

Assemble, maintain, and repair fleet of bicycles for bike share system.

Complete annual refurbishments on fleet.

Perform monthly safety checks and repairs in the field and shop.  Ride a bicycle to perform in-field repair and inspection work; will require 2 or more days of field work per week.

Must diligently maintain accurate service records for all repairs completed.

Follow procedural guidelines and company policies for all work performed.

Manage inventory of parts and tools both in shop and on cargo bike.

Prioritize field repairs based on complexity and demand, diagnose issues in field when necessary.

Perform basic repairs and maintenance on cargo bikes when necessary.

Handle public interactions in the field in a friendly and professional manner

Will require a combination of days in the bike shop and fieldwork.

Work under the guidance of the direct supervisor and/or General Manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assist in the assembly and programming of the new bikes as our system expands.

Maintain and repair mechanical and electronic components of bikes as needed to manufacturer specifications.

While performing field work, communicate with Supervisor regarding location and condition of equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance.

Perform commuter benefit repairs for qualifying Revolution staff.

Communicate with other staff and supervisors to affect improvements.
